Working with open source software is working with people. Open source software – software with source code that anyone can view, use, modify, and distribute – often appears faceless, hiding the individuals behind it. However, behind every open source project, there are real people with bodies and feelings. While much attention has often been paid to the code aspects of open source software development, little attention has been given to the importance of care work in sustaining the community.
