“My craft doesn’t solely involve me. I am a product of my people and of my community. The dominant media has always been extractive, and when companies, organizations, and other projects come my way, we’re all coming with. In my photography work, I am always sure to give people copies of the images, it’s part of my principle. And I extend that to my work making films and collages because if I didn’t have collaborators, I wouldn’t have any of this work to show. The people and stories I document aren’t “subjects,” they become my collaborators. We share such a deep connection.”
